core beliefs and our mission

Greenlight’s two senior directors are both grandfathers with children who are teachers and grandchildren that attend (or will attend) daycares and schools. Both extended families have had multiple cases of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses. This story will be familiar to many British Columbia families.

For the last two years the focus of Greenlight’s efforts has been on safe indoor air in school classrooms and similar settings. We believe that schools and daycares are hubs of our communities. When children get sick this has wide-ranging effects and costs on families and society at large, including on the health care system.

This is not just about health. All children should enjoy a safe environment at school that is conducive to learning and growing up to be productive and happy people. The welfare of the human communities these children will live in as adults depends on this, especially given the challenges that will face them in the 21st century.

We have a passionate belief that daycares and schools should have the best possible indoor air quality. Helping to make this happen with information, advocacy and providing best practice technologies is Greenlight’s mission.
